Google Authorship Removed from Search Results

Google searches will no longer show authorship results and will no longer be a part of Google Webmaster tools.  Among the stated reasons for the cessation of the program are the lack of adoption rates by users and the fact that authorship results mean little to the searcher.

Google Is Testing a New Search Box to Appear Below the Main Box
A new search box is being tested that will appear beneath the original search box, allowing for more functionality to search within a search.  The new box is larger and will offer a greater number of search suggestions.  Currently Google results display a box beneath the first listing containing links to specific pages just on that site. The new results layout will display an actual search box below the first listing, will give more search suggestions as you type, and using it will search the entire web. The only exception at this time is for Amazon, where the new search box will use Amazon’s own internal site search.

Launch of AdAlysis Aims to Provide Easier Testing of AdWords. 
The new ad testing software will take much of the confusion out of analyzing ad data.  Automating tracking of tests goes on constantly with the program, and it will send out notifications when results are determined.

Bing Testing New Search Results Display
Ongoing changes to Bing search now include a new method of displaying results that is being tested.  The new results view includes search-card style results similar to that used by Google.  The changes are still in the experimental stage but seem to compliment changes recently made to the navigation bar.

Yahoo Test Interface Appears Similar to Google
After difficulties with losing search share in recent months, Yahoo is climbing back up again, and now they are working on some changes that include testing out a new interface.  The experimental interface is similar to the current one used by Google for tablets.

Facebook Is Looking to Add Keyword Search for Mobile
Among the changes that have been either announced or leaked in the past year, Facebook now appears to be moving towards adding keyword search capabilities for mobile.  The search would allow users to search for posts on Facebook for which that user is among the audience.

Bing Following Google’s Close Variants Changes
After Google recently turned off the option to select or deselect close variants for search results, Bing has announced they are pursuing a similar path.  Currently being tested, Bing’s plan is to differ slightly by allowing users the option to opt out of the testing procedure.  If the plan goes forward, however, the opt-out option may be removed.
