Sell your digital content in a click with Sellfy!

A dead-simple, one-stop digital sales tool straight out of Latvia, Sellfy gives any producer of digital goods the ability to sell their latest product directly to their social network. Whether it’s a new album, eBook, or a zip file filled with amazing pictures you took at the zoo last weekend, Sellfy allows anyone to set up an instant shopping cart with a simple link they can share through social channels or on their personal website.
Compared to other digital distribution services like Amazon and iTunes, Sellfy takes an extremely low cut at only 5 percent of each transaction. They even allow their content makers to accept payments through PayPal and just recently have begun offering Stripe and PayMill integration.
We held a brief lightning interview with Sellfy co-founder and CEO Maris Dagis, who gave us the skinny on the origins of his simple digital distribution tool and shared his personal advice to other entrepreneurs out there.
What was the inspiration behind Sellfy?
Before Sellfy my co-founder and I were creating and selling WordPress themes. When we created out first theme we started to look for a shopping cart to use.
We were stuck with a few choices that required for us and, more importantly, for our customers to fill out endless forms just to get started. We thought there should be a better way to sell.
When did you know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?
Very early on—I started my first company when I was still in high school. I always had an appreciation for entrepreneurs who were building innovative products and services and always wanted to be one of them.
I also have these weird ideas all the time -- I never imagined that any of them would work as a large company.
As a busy entrepreneur, how do you like to wind down and relax?
I’m a huge fan of sports; I find it helps to relax the brain. I recently started learning to play drums, which is a lot of fun (and noise)!
Who are some people that inspire you?
Friends and family and kick-ass entrepreneurs doing crazy things.
If you sold your company today for $1 billion, what’s the first thing you would do with the money?
I would take some time off and travel across the world. Then I’d probably start my next company and help other entrepreneurs to succeed.
What advice would you give to any beginning entrepreneurs out there?
I’m not sure. I think right now people aren’t afraid to start a company and I see a lot of that happening. One thing that I’m seeing often is that people give up too soon. I would advise other entrepreneurs to be strong and fight harder to put their ideas to work.
What does 2013 have in store for Sellfy?
We have the whole world to conquer, right?
