Network smarter with Jewish B2B Networking

We all know about the importance of “smart networking.” At MeetAdvisors, we talk about it all the time. It’s certainly not hard to find a networking event to go to; hundreds happen every day all over the city (all over any city, actually). So why do so many people have trouble linking up to like-minded entrepreneurs?

The problem is that with the sheer number groups dedicated to networking it is often hard to gauge legitimacy. How do you know if you’ve joined the right one; the one that will actually help you make the business connections you need?

Well, if you live in the Midwest and you’re having a networking crisis, help has arrived. Jewish B2B Networking is what you’ve been waiting for. I sat down with the founder, Shalom Klein to ask him how his business is doing and he told me why we all need to join now, regardless of our religious beliefs.

What’s the story behind Jewish B2B Networking?

I lived in New York City for a while and when I moved back to my hometown of Skokie, Ill. I began developing a small business practice. This required me to do a lot of networking. I met a lot of interesting, helpful business professionals and I began to realize that these people didn’t need to meet me; they needed to meet each other.

I put together a luncheon to make some introductions and was expecting about 20 people to come but 75 showed up. The next day I walked into a Skokie Starbucks and saw five different business meetings taking place from introductions that were made the day before. That’s when I knew I had stumbled upon something very important and very necessary.

Why Jewish B2B Networking? Don’t you think the name is a little exclusionary?

I was raised in a Jewish household to believe that the highest form of charity is to help someone make their own livelihood. We are not an exclusively Jewish organization, and nobody has ever stepped away from us because of the word “Jewish.”

 

 

We’ve been called Jewish B2B Networking for three years and we hold several events every week, we have thousands of members and we have created thousands of business opportunities and successes based off our services.

What have your greatest accomplishments been so far?

We were invited to the White House and met with the Senate Small Business Committee to discuss our networking goals as well as issues that affect small businesses. We met many people on our trip, including U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky, Governor Pat Quinn, and President Barack Obama. Shaking the President’s hand and having him tell me he really appreciates what I’m doing was a huge moment for me.

 

 

Later this month we’re going to Springfield, Ill. for our first annual Business Leaders Delegation trip to discuss small business issues and trends in the state capital, which I’m really looking forward to.

What are your next steps as a business?

We want to expand more throughout the Midwest and offer more programs and activities for our members. Our third annual Business and Employment Expo is coming up in June so we’re working on that. We want to go wherever people find networking opportunities and help people maximize their business however we can.
