There's nothing I love more than a story about a small firm that works hard, bootstraps and makes it through. As a PR/Marketing nerd my favorite underdog stories have to do with independent agencies that have achieved this feat.

I found an impressive one that goes by FRED and spoke to the energetic and successful woman behind it. My lightning interview with Jen Brady revealed that FRED is practice that believes in themselves and in their clients.

In your words, what is FRED & Associates?

FRED & Associates is a marketing agency that partners with clients to bring great ideas to life.  We focus on innovating for our clients to drive the results they need to grow their business.

What was the inspiration?

The inspiration was to work directly with clients in a true partnership capacity while maintaining the ability to be nimble, flexible, creative, and extraordinary.

What's the story behind the name?

Fred is a nickname my big sister coined for me over 35 years ago.

How has business been doing since you started?

Due to our focusing on constant learning, technology immersion, and agile approach to solving problems, we've been profitable year over year even during the recent recession.

What has your biggest failure been with FRED?

My biggest failure has been not trusting my gut and working with the wrong people.

What has your biggest success been?

Our biggest success has been to be publicly recognized by clients for the stellar work we provide and relationships we've fostered.

What advice would you give entrepreneurs just starting out?

Dream big, act scrappy, and focus on the details.

What about your service is unique that your competitors can't offer?

We provide clients with unbiased perspective and approaches to business solutions.

We are creative problem solvers.  The norm bores us.  We develop extraordinary marketing and media campaigns for our clients and find ways to make our client's investments work harder.  We take the time to educate our clients about marketing and media so they can make informed decision.
