7 Great Reasons to Choose a Corporate Apartment Over a Pricey Hotel

So you’ve been relocated, want to take an extended vacation, or even just need a change of pace. Your best bet is probably finding the nicest hotel for the lowest possible cost, right? Think again. Have you ever considered corporate housing? Defined by the Corporate Housing Provider Association, "Corporate Housing is a furnished apartment, condominium or house made available for rent or let on a temporary basis, primarily for 30 days or more." While hotels are convenient and comfortable, the average hotel room is 325 square feet, hardly spacious. When choosing a living space for an extended period of time, why not consider corporate housing units? Here are some self-explanatory reasons why it’s an attractive option.

  1. Cost: Perhaps the most convincing reason to avoid staying in a hotel is the high cost. So far in 2015, a standard hotel room costs an average of $122 per night. Crunch these numbers. If you were to spend 30 nights in a hotel at this cost, your housing cost would be about $3660. In comparison, corporate housing communities, like Ultris, average $1300 per month, or a little more than a third of the cost.

  2. Space: Have you ever met someone who prefers to be cooped up in a room as opposed to having room to breathe? Another benefit of corporate housing is the amount of space an apartment floor plan provides. Instead of 325 square feet, a corporate unit at Ultris is approximately 900 square feet. This leaves room to entertain guests, or even house additional guest in the case that you have visitors.

  3. Maintenance Service: What’s more frustrating than trying to take a hot shower after a long day of work, and having no hot water? While the probability isn’t extremely high, having maintenance on call 24/7 in case the situation arises is one of the major benefits of corporate units.

  4. Privacy: Can you put a price on privacy? Being able to come back to a place you call home after a long day is a luxury that shouldn’t be compromised when travelling. Corporate units allow the privacy of your own home without sacrificing the option of being close to restaurants, shopping centers, etc.

  5. Homey-feel: One of the most inconvenient parts about staying in a hotel is the inability to cook your own meals. For people with food allergies, this can be somewhat of a problem. For everyone, this can add up. With corporate housing units, renters have the ability to cook meals, which is not only more cost effective, but also typically healthier.

  6. Amenities: Hotels have some great perks: pools, fitness centers, restaurants to eat at. But what about other amenities like in-unit laundry, dog parks, mini golf courses, movie theatres, tanning beds, etc.? Corporate housing units like Ultris able to offer these amenities. Corporate housing also provides options like parking garages, gated communities and parks for families with children.

  7. Community: On average 40% of all business travelers spend one night at a hotel, 23% spend two nights, and 37% spend three or more nights. With the majority of guests staying in a hotel just one night, meeting neighbors and forming bonds is next to impossible. Due to the length of stay in corporate housing, which is an average of 84 nights, there is often a more community oriented feel, and a larger opportunity to form those neighborly bonds.

Next time you head away on business, or are looking to get away on vacation, skip the hotel search instead look into corporate housing. The benefits speak for themselves!
