I’m passionate about learning and taking action on what I learn to become a better entrepreneur and person. I’m currently the Managing Partner of Highly Relevant, a Los Angeles-based Internet marketing company that specializes in SEO. We've also recently launched a bike company called Venice Fixies.
My parents emigrated from Taiwan in the late 1970s and settled in Dallas, TX where my brother and I were born. Not once before the age of twenty-two did I think about being an entrepreneur. It was just something that I never thought about, and I certainly wasn’t pushed in that direction. When I was growing up, I was more focused on getting good grades, playing basketball, and — later on in college — finding a solid and respectable career job.
While working at corporate jobs, including a stint as a consultant with IBM, I realized that I just wasn’t fulfilled in my career at all. There had to be a better way. I started exploring entrepreneurship a little more. In 2005, my brother and I had an idea to start a basketball-related website that would generate revenue through advertising (or so we hoped). Of course, we had no idea what we were doing… but I had started my entrepreneurial journey.
Since then, I’ve started an E-Commerce store and an Internet marketing consultancy, as well as worked on a technology start-up that focused on audio blogging. Despite these experiences, however, I still view myself as an entrepreneurial novice – I definitely have a long way to go.
