What is Factor 75?
Factor 75 is based on the fact that 75 percent of your fitness results come from what you eat. We believe eating nutritiously is the most important part of living an optimal, fit life and exist to nourish people’s unrelenting desire to thrive in life.
What was the inspiration?
It solved a personal pain point I experienced when I was training and competing in MMA and boxing while working a full-time job. I didn’t have the time or ability to make healthy meals very often and got sick of going to Whole Foods or Chipotle everyday. Not to mention, it was expensive and still took a lot of time walking or driving to get my lunch/dinner, waiting in line and then heading back home.
Finally a trainer of mine referred me to a personal chef who worked with athletes. She started dropping off a garbage bag, literally, filled with meals she made in her kitchen that were healthy and in the right portions. The difference was incredible and almost immediate. I had no idea how important what you ate was until I started eating optimally.
My gut told me a lot of health-minded, busy people experience the same frustration as I did. I didn’t want to be on a diet like Nutrisystem or Seattle Sutton, but wanted something healthy that taste good and was convenient.
I had some issues with my personal chef; I didn’t get to choose what I wanted and ended up with four or five meals at the end of the week that I would have rather thrown out. But since I paid 16 to 20 dollars for them, I would choke them down while thinking how this could be done better.
How is business?
We’ve been blessed in that the business has taken off! The concept has been very well received and the feedback on our meals has been tremendous.
What has your biggest failure been with Factor 75?
Probably not understanding upfront what all actually goes into starting a company. The time and absolute devotion it entails if you are going to succeed. You hear the stories about how a start-up consumes your entire life, but until you live it, you cannot fully realize what that means.
What I’ve learned from this failure translates into advice for anyone considering going down this path: You better truly love about which you’re about to embark and be willing to sacrifice everything to achieve it. If you don’t, rethink what your about to do because this will either be your entire life for the foreseeable future or it most likely will not succeed.
What has your biggest success been?
My biggest success I believe is getting the right individuals and partners on board that share my vision. The ability of a founder to “sell” their idea to the right partners and get the right people on board is critical.
Putting them in positions where they are naturally suited and giving them the space and resources to flourish is how you build and manage a top-notch team. The team and people you surround yourself with is everything. Frankly, I am extremely fortunate to have the people I do on my team. Without all of them this would be just another idea.
Factor 75 is growing, generating revenue and becoming a recognizable brand due to their hard work and advisement.
What are some of your favorite Factor 75 meals?
My favorite meal seems to change each week. Right now, I am a big fan of the Butternut Squash Lasagna and Green Pepper Casserole. I do love our new dishes though, especially the Spaghetti Squash “Alfredo” with Salmon or Chicken.
I believe the beauty of our company and our meals is that it is evidence that healthy food can be delicious, can be convenient AND still be affordable. That is what we aim for with each menu item.
